Who we are

The Alliance Française of Cincinnati is the primary French cultural institution in Cincinnati and the Northern Kentucky region. It is a non-profit cultural institution founded in 1901 by Auguste Fredin, who was the Honorary Consul of France in Cincinnati.

The mission of the Alliance Francaise is to promote the appreciation of the French and francophone cultures, increase the knowledge of the French language, and encourage interactions among French, francophone and American people through language classes, social events and information sharing.

The Alliance Francaise de Cincinnati is an independent chapter of a worldwide organization. The Alliance Française is a non-profit organization, founded in 1883 in Paris, which now has over 1100 chapters in 132 countries. There are 141 chapters in the United States, with over 30,000 members. The 800 teaching chapters worldwide reach nearly 380,000 students of French per year (from 158 different countries) in a variety of ways.

We invite you to join the Alliance Francaise de Cincinnati as a new or renewing member. It is not necessary to speak French to enjoy the benefits and privileges of our membership.

We are currently raising funding to have a permanent building of our own. You can help by sending a check or money order to our current address.
