The Alliance Française in partnership with the
Cincinnati Art Museum invites members of both organizations to attend a
French art lecture by Richard Brettell, Ph.D., at the Cincinnati Art
Museum. A reception with refreshments will immediately follow the
lecture.
Dr. Brettell holds the Margaret McDermott Distinguished
Chair of Art and Aesthetics, University of Texas at Dallas, School of
Arts & Humanities. He is a world renowned expert on French
Impressionism and 19th century French painting.
This event will take place in the Fath Auditorium of the
Cincinnati Art Museum at 953 Eden Park Drive. The cost is $10 for
Alliance Française and Cincinnati Art Museum members and students, and
$20 for the general public.

French Cuisine Through the Eyes
of Chef Jean-Robert de Cavel
We invite you to join us for this rare opportunity to
hear Chef Jean-Robert de Cavel talk about his perspective of French
Cuisine.
The evening will begin at 6PM with Jean-Robert’s
presentation in the second floor conference room at Jean-Robert
Pigall’s Restaurant. Following the presentation, guests will
enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvre at Twist Lounge adjoining Pigall’s.
The registration fee is $25 for members of the Alliance
Française and $30 for non-members. Registration includes the
presentation by Jean-Robert, 2 glasses of wine or a non-alcoholic
beverage, and hors d’oeuvre at Twist.
Tour of French Art Treasures at
the Taft Museum of Art
The Alliance Française in partnership with the Taft
Museum of Art invites members of both organizations and their guests to
attend an interactive gallery tour of major works of French art at the
Taft Museum. This tour will be led by Eric M. Lee, Ph.D.,
Director of the museum. Refreshments and a social hour will
follow the tour.
The registration fee is $25 for members of the Alliance
Française or Taft Museum and $35 for non-members of these
organizations. Registration includes the tour, refreshments, and
a tax-deductible donation to the Alliance Française.
Proceeds from this event will be used to support the
French Art Program of the Alliance Française.

We are pleased to announce that our
partner, the European American Chamber of Commerce, is launching a new
quarterly program in January featuring briefings by European
dignitaries. The first program will focus on France.
The Consul General of France and the Vice President of
Business Development at Invest in France Agency will present the
investment opportunities in France, France’s position in Europe, its
relationship with the USA, a summary of accomplishments of France's
Presidency of the EU from July to December 2008, and related topics.

brand new Alliance Française event on Sunday, January 25 from 2:30PM to
5PM at Terwilliger Lodge in Montgomery.
This event will celebrate the family and gourmet French
tradition of La Chandeleur. You will enjoy sparkling cider and
sweet crêpes prepared as you watch by Jean-Robert Cuisine. There
will be French music and fun activities for children.
Children of members of the Alliance Française who are
under 12 years of age will be admitted free with parent
supervision. The registration fee for adult members and their
children over age 12 is $10.
For the public at large, the registration fee is $15 for
adults, $10 for children over age 12, and $5 for children under
age 12.
Join us downtown on Fountain Square and
enjoy Ice Skating on the Ice Rink and also take the time to visit the
Duke Energy annual Model Train exhibit in the lobby of the Duke Energy
Building.
The French American Chamber of Commerce of the EACC
invites members of the Alliance Française to toast the new wine harvest
for 2008 at a special Gala. You will enjoy a French buffet,
Beaujolais wine selection, dancing and a silent auction.
This event will take place at the Hilton Netherland
Plaza Hotel, 35 West Fifth Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202. The cost
per person is $60 for Alliance members, $75 for non-members and $90 at
the door.
“French Society through Its Songs
from World War II to the 1970s”
Enjoy a special lecture in French by
Anne-Marie Mazzega-Bachelet, Ph.D. and Eric Bachelet on the major
historical events and social changes that took place in France from
World War II until the1970s as reflected in the lyrics of French songs
of this period. You will listen to excerpts of songs as the
Bachelets discuss the lyrics, historical context and accompanying
changes in musical styles. A discussion and light refreshments
will follow the presentation.
This presentation is co-sponsored by the Alliance
Française and the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at
the University of Cincinnati. It will take place at 7:30PM on
Thursday, November 13 at the Valentine House, the Language Immersion
House located at 2629 Clifton Avenue on the UC campus. The
lecture will be free except for a $3 charge for parking in the adjacent
Valentine House parking garage.
Our opening event will take place at The Little Red
Schoolhouse in Indian Hill from 7 to 10PM on Friday, September 26.
While listening to innovative jazz renditions by pianist
Jim Connerley and bassist Jim Anderson, we will enjoy French cheeses,
hors d’oeuvre, mini-pastries and wines selected especially for this
event. This event will include a raffle with some major prizes.
The registration fee of $30 for members and $35 for
non-members includes food and two glasses of wine or non-alcoholic
beverage.
We invite you to bring your family and join the Alliance
Française for a casual game of pétanque, one of France’s treasured
pastimes.
We will have several games being played concurrently
with instructions in French and English to help beginners. If you
have a set of boules or would just like to listen to the clink of the
boules and the debate of the players, please mark your calendar to
attend. We will also have access to the other areas of Swaim
Park, if family members would like to explore the park during the
games.
Beverages will be provided by the Alliance at no cost to
you. You are welcome to bring a snack to keep your energy up for
the game.
We will meet at the small shelter located next to the
baseball field which is adjacent to the parking lot on Cooper
Road.
While there is no cost for this event, we request that

This event begins on Friday, July 11 from 7PM to 11PM in
a park setting with a wonderful playground for children. There
will be a buffet potluck dinner and dancing under the stars to French
music. Each family is required to bring their favorite summer
dish to share (main dish, salad or dessert). Prizes will be
awarded for the best dish in each category. Wine, beer and soft
drinks will be available for purchase.

to 11PM in downtown Montgomery where you can experience the sights,
